What's On

Alexandra Headland, called ‘Alex’ by the local residents, is a charming coastal community located between Mooloolaba and Maroochydore in the heart of the Sunshine Coast in Queensland. It lies slightly over 100km from Brisbane, with a population of 7,000 people.

The town has a relaxed vibe which invites you to step outside your apartment to explore one of the magnificent beaches which have become popular with surfers, or wander down the many paths that weave around the coastline.

You can stop and take in the stunning views from the peninsula to Mount Coolum and north along the panoramic beach to the Maroochy River.

The main beach has a patrolled swimming area thanks to the Alex Surf club, so you can swim safely with your family, enjoy a picnic, relax and read a book or play a game of beach cricket. A day spent at the beach with its idyllic white sands equals a day of content.

You can sit and watch the surfers out on the water, hire a surfboard or even take some surf lessons during your stay.

Teenagers can also have fun at the outdoor skate park, which is situated right next to the Alex Surf Club. The half-pipe is a popular destination for the younger generation.

If you’re feeling lucky, you could even take your fishing rod and bait down to the ocean and try to catch your dinner to enjoy cooking on the barbecue later on.

With its glorious beachfront and small town warmth, you will love holidaying at Alexandra Headland on the Sunshine Coast.
